Project Overview

Chesapeake Bay Foundation Headquarters - Bay Ridge, Maryland

When the foundation decided to build its new headquarters, it was no surprise that an environmental organization so dedicated to the preservation of Chesapeake Bay watershed would express its mission in the form of sustainable, “whole building” design. The result is an award-winning green building that is flexible, multi-purpose, and integrated with the surrounding community.

RMI/ENSAR Role

RMI/ENSAR provided energy analysis, daylighting design, and consulting on LEED strategies as part of a design assistance team through the Sustainable Buildings Industries Council and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy

Results

This facility consumes approximately 19 percent less energy than a comparable facility designed to comply with the most recent ASRAE standard (90.1). RMI/ENSAR conducted energy analysis early in the design process where efficiency and climate responsive design strategies were recommended. The final analysis of the actual building design is within 5% of the RMI/ENSAR estimates.
