The Lewis & Clark State Office Building achieved tremendous resource effi ciency and indoor environmental quality with no increase in cost over a typical government building. The project exemplifi es the integrated design process, showcasing cost-effective design strategies that are respectful of occupant needs while protecting the environment:

Results
“We were able to save about 56 percent of total energy, making the project the lowest operating cost for any state offi ce building in Missouri.” —Greg Franta, FAIA, Rocky Mountain Institute The Lewis & Clark State office building was designed to serve as a financial and educational model for future government projects in Missouri. This facility has achieved the highest LEED rating with no increase in cost, and it was delivered on time and on budget. Building energy use has been reduced by more than half. Over a million gallons of water have been saved in the nearly three years since the building opened.
